The "Naturinsel Drachenmühle" is situated on the grounds of a former mill. It is primarily used for ecologically-friendly agricultural purposes related to regional marketing of agricultural products and regional self-sufficiency. Food is either ecologically produced or purchased from certified organic producers. The conservation and amelioration of rural areas in the region are ensured by the Habitats Directive and, locally, by species-appropriate and conservation-friendly animal husbandry and permaculture gardening. A large number of chiefly young visitors receive inspiration and guidance for an alternative, sustainable lifestyle primarily from concrete teaching and daily work in the areas of permaculture, natural building using locally available resources, species-appropriate animal husbandry, herbology, traditional agricultural inventory and household management. The aim of the "Naturinsel Drachenmühle" is to establish a permanent "eco location" for workshops, seminars and a dynamic exchange of experience.
