Master’s Degree Program "Sustainable Service and Catering Sector"
Federal Land: North Rhine-Westphalia
Award Period: 2008/2009
This four-term degree program deals with various facets of the issue of a "Sustainable Service and Catering Sector". One topic is the difficulty of reconciling market requirements on the one hand and ecological and economic aspects on the other. Responsible use of resources and socially responsible production, processing and transportation are examined. Moreover, students analyze the market situation in the food sector and related service sectors. The central question is how the demands of consumers, politics and the general public change and how businesses can react to these changes. The third major focus area of the program is teaching methods of positioning sustainable products and services on the market. Three companies from this sector and three foundations have joined forces to establish an endowed professorship in sustainable development at the Münster University of Applied Sciences. The degree program was accredited in 2006 and will start with 20-30 students in the 2008/2009 winter term.
