Scientists' Workshop on Water, Natural Sciences and Bionics: Knowing, Exploring, Experiencing, and Conserving Natural Resources and the Environment

Federal Land: Bavaria

Award Period: 2008/2009

Wasserwirbel is a one-woman business which has developed three scientists’ workshops on the subjects of water (Ein Meer ohne Wasser, Wasser in anderen Kulturen /A Sea Without Water, Water in Other Cultures), Natural sciences and bionics (Abenteuer Auen u.a.; Experimente zum Lotus-Effekt /The Adventure of Floodplains etc., Experiments on the Lotus Effect), each of which consists of six to ten scientists' boxes which are used as teaching units for children and / or kindergarten and primary school teachers. The project aims to stimulate pre-school children to discover, explore and experience natural resources and the environment with all their senses. It promotes scientific and technical skills and builds competence as required by Education for Sustainable Development. Each scientists' box contains methodically varied assignments related to the above-mentioned topics. The project also provides information on further reading and useful links as well as potential partners for cooperation and places to go in the vicinity.
